SERVICES
When you are suffering from an unexpected illness or injury, or when you simply require general medical attention without waiting for an appointment, we are the provider you need. Our professional team of board-certified doctors, nurses and other clinicians are equipped to handle a comprehensive range of urgent medical conditions and injuries, routine illnesses, and general medical services.
EMERGENCY APPOINTMENTS
At Park Surgery, emergency appointments are available to our patients every morning at 8am and are carried out on the same-day.
Emergency appointments are there for patients who require medical attention urgently. Generally speaking emergency appointments are for new and acute problems that cannot wait for a few days. We therefore ask patients to make a decision based upon this before calling the practice and to understand how precious same day appointments are.
Due to the urgency, unfortunately you may not see your usual doctor as a result of this.
TESTS & RESULTS
Several tests can be carried out at the practice including: bloods, urine and sputum. In addition to this, more complex tests such as: ECG’s, Lung function assessment and on-site INR testing.
Should you be required to have any of the above tests carried out by one of our clinicians, results for these tend to take around a week to come back. Please be aware, x-rays or scans can take up to four weeks.
To find out a result to a recent test we ask patients to call the practice between 12pm and 3pm during the week (excluding bank holidays).
PLEASE BE AWARE - OUR RECEPTION TEAM ARE NOT TRAINED TO PROVIDE RESULTS TO PATIENTS. THESE RESULTS CAN ONLY BE DISCUSSED WITH A TRAINED MEMBER OF THE TEAM WHO IS ABLE TO INTERPRET FINDINGS.
ROUTINE
APPOINTMENTS
Routine Appointments can be booked 2 weeks in advance here at Park Surgery. The purpose of routine appointments is for general health queries, diagnoses, and monitoring of conditions (also known as non-urgent appointments). When patients contact our Reception team, they will be offered the next available appointment.
Our waiting times for next available appointments vary throughout the year, however we always strive to reduce the time our patients need to wait to obtain the next available appointment. Phone lines can be considerably busy at all times.
You can request to see a specific GP, however please be aware that making this request may increase the time until an appointment can be made.
IMMUNISATIONS
Flu vaccines are given from September each year by our clinicians at Park. They are provided to patients over 65 years, and those under this of age with chronic diseases such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease, kidney/liver disease or cancer and if you are pregnant.
Everyone over the age of 65 and those aged 2 to 64 with certain health conditions are eligible for the pneumococcal vaccine. Most people over the age of 65 will only need one dose, which will help protect them for life.
Everyone aged 70 to 79 is eligible for the shingles vaccine. Depending on the type of vaccine you have, you'll have either 1 dose or 2 doses (given between 6 and 12 months apart). You're eligible up until your 80th birthday.

CHILD IMMUNISATIONS
Many childhood diseases have been virtually eradicated in the UK due to the availability of vaccinations. It is thus very important that all children are fully immunised. The majority of vaccinations up to the age of 5 years are performed at the surgery following a reminder sent to the parents by the Health Board.
Vaccines for Diptheria, Tetanus, Whooping cough, polio, Haemophilus, Rotavirus, Meningitis B&C and Pneumococcus are staggered at various times from 8 weeks to 4 years of age.
Further vaccines for HPV in girls (12-13yrs) and the 3 in 1 booster with meningitis vaccine at 14 yrs to all, are usually administered at school.
Recommended vaccinations can be found using the link below:
